Had old friends visit me this weekend - some just dropped by and some stayed the weekend - raised a glass to Amar - some of us with champers, and some with Cream Soda - wonder what he would have made of that.
Made a wire weave carnelian and copper pendant and matching ear cuff for Meg Jayanth, and she wore the ear cuff all weekend - result! Her mother has commissioned two necklaces and I am busy thinking up new ways to combine the materials she has given me with ideas to make the jewellery suit Meg's most vibrant personality - I will have to come up with something very creative indeed - the old brain cells are ticking over - I can hear the creaks groans and wheezes.

Went to London to a meeting last week - the 'day job' intrudes again - but hey, nice to have more than one iron in the fire. Went to the Portobello Road after the meeting and met this woman making and selling wire work rings out of a small stall - was wearing this necklace that I was 'test driving' - I was so pleased cos she really liked it - obviously she knew I wasnt going to buy from her once I said I had made the piece myself, but we had a very nice chat. Bought some lovely shells from a shop and some porcelain beads - very pretty. I am now totally addicted to beads and shiny baubles - bringing out the magpie in me - want, want, want!! Also took some photography lessons - how to photograph small shiny objects and now own a mini tripod - only 6 inches tall and have bought a 'cube' - this project is growing and growing! Am off to a Precious metal clay class next weekend at 'In The Studio' in Kegworth - will learn to make my own focal pieces and hope to branch out into polymer clay - help, I need a bigger workstation - a tray in my lap with a few pliers on it wont do anymore. Thanks to all those who have 'liked' my page - have a look at the website too, and tell your friends. xx My first attempt at a blog - have had fun making this website - did all the elements myself, with the help of Weebly support - have used it as distraction therapy and I dedicate it to my dear brother, who unfortunately will never get to see it. I know, however that he would have been proud of my efforts. This picture is by a Russian artist called Kandinsky - it is called Symphony No 7 - he had a condition called synesthesia where his brain converted colour into sound - he heard his colours! - wonder what he heard when he painted this?? This is a painting I love - exuberant, unconventional colourful with just enough definition to make it look like a jazz orchestra - to me - what does it look like to you?? I have a print on my living room wall, and my husband and I often sit and stare at it and always find something else to marvel about - one more trumpet, or bass player or drummer - and I love the colours too - very me. I found some Intarsia agate pendant beads today which were reminiscent of this - like marquetry work in gemstone, and I had to have some - dont know what I will do with them when they arrive - they will probably need a simple setting as they are so complicated already. But I would never just hang them with a bail - O no sirree - will dream up some crazy complicated stuff - may take a while, but one day they will be on this website in some wierd and wonderful avatar. |
