Beautiful Handmade Statement Necklaces and other Fabulousness from Neena Shilvock - Inspirations and Designs From the Week Gone by
![]() Hello folks, Happy New Year to you all. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and the Santa brought you everything you wished for. Now that the festivities are over, we are all settling into that awkward period where the sales are over, our Christmas money is spent, bellies expanded and belts let out after all the imbibing we did during the holiday period. It's cold out there and we've even got our fire on. I've gone back to work and am picking up all the threads I dropped for the Holiday Season and have started to put together projects that were temporarily suspended in December. This used to be the time of year when I took a long break to visit my mother in India, but now that she has passed on, that's no longer going to happen. I'm stuck in the UK in the cold weather for the first time in years and it feels very strange. ![]() Ah, Christmas—the season of joy, indulgence, and questionable fashion choices (yes, I’m looking at you, novelty jumpers). But this year, Caprilicious Jewellery added an extra sprinkle of sparkle to the festivities when my glamorous friend Danielle came to visit. What started as a casual Christmas catch-up quickly turned into a full-blown jewellery fashion show. And let me tell you, Danielle did not come to play, this was serious stuff! I was the make-up artist and photographer, Danielle the stylist and model and here's what we produced, in spite of the cold and damp post Christmas. We raided the Caprilicious treasure trove, and Danielle tried on everything that caught her magpie eye. From bold statement necklaces that practically announced their own arrival to delicate, glimmering earrings that whispered elegance, she was in her element. Frankly, if I didn’t know better, I’d say Danielle was auditioning to be the face of Caprilicious in 2025. (Move over, supermodels. This is Danielle’s world now.) There’s something magical about seeing jewellery come to life on someone who truly enjoys it. Danielle twirled, posed, and gave the camera her best “smouldering-but-still-approachable” look. She even offered to go out in the cold garden in her skimpy outfit, but I didn't have the heart to take more than a couple of pictures outside. And in between the laughing fits and dramatic hair flips, the jewellery absolutely stole the show. Take the Alpine Flowers necklace, for instance—each vibrant hue seemed to mirror Danielle’s infectious energy. Then there was the elegant Pushpanjali, glowing with that mysterious charm only coral can bring. And let’s not forget the playful, frivolous pendant Rainbow Radiance currently lounging on a simple torc necklace, designed to turn heads with zero effort. (Effortless glam? Yes, please!) Why Should Danielle Have All the Fun? Now, I could keep telling you how fabulous Danielle looked, but wouldn’t it be better to see for yourself? Go ahead, scroll through the photos and let them whisper sweet nothings to your inner jewellery lover. But here’s the real question—why should Danielle have all the fun? You deserve a bit of sparkle too. Whether you’re looking to treat yourself (because you’ve survived another year—congratulations, by the way) or searching for that perfect statement piece to outshine everyone at your next gathering, Caprilicious has you covered. As for me, I was satisfied seeing my pieces on a live model - they look so different on a plastic torso and some pieces are difficult to conceptualise when you can't see them worn by a person. Danielle has always been ever so supportive of Caprilicious and we are like children with mummy's jewellery box when we get together for a weekend. One morning is reserved for rummaging around in my bead box, trying on jewellery and make up and testing my photography skills. Go ahead, pop over to the Caprilicious Jewellery website. Trust me, your jewellery box will thank you. And if you happen to pick up a piece or two, just remember—it’s not shopping, it’s self-care, it's looking after your own wellbeing. ![]() I've not decided what I will make next, but I feel like I cannot watch television now without a bead tray in my lap and a project in mind. I started bezelling around some colourful crystals with little seed beads and one day they will go into something - what that 'something' will be hasn't been decided yet. That's me for this week, folks. Have a fabulous weekend and I'll catch you soon with further updates from Caprilicious. Until then, xx
