Two strands of howlite teardrop beads, dyed black, basalt beads, which are polished solidified molten lava, carry a brass two sided pendant with the Chinese signs of the zodiac. The Chinese Zodiac, known as Sheng Xiao, is based on a twelve-year cycle, each year in that cycle related to an animal sign. These signs in order are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. The pendant is 3" long and flanked by pyrite beads. A pair of Kenyan lost wax cast beads separate the howlite from the basalt.
The necklace is 25" long and ends in a secure leaf toggle clasp.
