The jewellery you have just purchased is handcrafted and not machine mass produced. Handmade items benefit from careful wear and usage. They are are lovingly created entirely by hand and may not withstand unduly rough treatment. If treated well, however, they should be your faithful companion for years to come.
Silver plate sometimes shows wear and tear - this can be minimised by not allowing it to come in contact with soaps, perfumes and hairspray and chlorinated swimming pools.
I use non tarnish copper wire for some pieces, but copper ages beautifully and gets darker with time - why not let it age naturally? I say - people spend a long time patinating and oxidising their metals - however, if you don't like the effect, buff with a soft cotton cloth and coat with clear nail varnish.
For Sterling, Fine or Argentium Silver only, a couple drops of dish-washing liquid, lukewarm water, and a soft, dry polishing cloth should suffice. For natural copper creations, brass and bronze creations, clean gently with a tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce or ketchup and a soft polishing cloth. Please store all creations in a zip-lock bag or air-tight container when not in use.
Wire jewellery can get misshapen if crushed by the weight of other jewellery in your box and is best kept separately in its own hard case. If it does go slightly out of shape, bend it back gently between your thumbs - wire retains a memory and will firm up after being used a few times. Please remove it before getting into bed and if it does get dirty, wipe down gently with a soapy wet cloth to ensure that the protective varnish is not removed. Your jewellery will remain as new if you follow these simple instructions.
Avoid intense and/or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Some stones are sensitive to the sun and colors may become muted if exposed for a great length of time.
