1.5" long, a ginkgo leaf, set with a cubic zirconia in a pale peach colour, burnished and antiqued on a leather thong. Antiqued with an iridescent patina and burnished, a lovely piece of daily wear jewellery. (You can request it on a silver necklace as well, but I think the thong suits it to a T).
The ginkgo, native to China, figures prominently in Asian art as well as the Art Nouveau movement of the late nineteenth century. Chinese monks brought the ginkgo to Japan, where it was widely planted in temple gardens. In Japanese decorative art, the ginkgo’s distinctive fan-shaped leaf has carried symbolism along with its singular beauty: the ginkgo has been a symbol of longevity and of a more profound endurance.
