Jewelfish
Hello everyone, how's the prep for Christmas going? Twenty six days left, as of today and I haven't done a thing towards the big day. Life has been hectic at the day job and I've been too exhausted at night to do anything but veg out in front of the telly. It's time I pulled up my socks though, and got the show on the road.

In spite of all this seemingly masterful inactivity, Jewelfish is finished. 'What's Jewelfish?', I hear you asking. Well, it is the piece formerly known as the Non Brexit Fish. I eventually got it set up and strung onto a necklace of gunmetal grey/metallic silver seed beads and I must say I think it is fabulous. A large showpiece, but hey! one can't be a self professed maker of statement necklaces, and have so few on the website. One day someone will fall in love with my Jewelfish and they will swim away to their forever home. I'm thinking that if the necklace is still around, I shall wear it on Christmas day - I bet I'll win the contest if my Christmas tree is stood against me for the most spectacular baubles.
The Jewelfish is a species that comes from West Africa - yes there is such a fish! They are found in rivers, stream and canals, especially in forested regions where vegetation overhangs the water surface. They are red in colour with little jewel like spots all over the body and fins.

{{{ A Special Fish For Me? }}}

Yes there are many fish out in the sea,
but why can't I find one that will
best suit me,
well, I mean the fish in the sea are free,
yet all I keep doing is coming up is empty,
I start to believe,
then I begin to see, that, well, there just isn't one out there for me.

I go down to the sea, and I just look around,
well, again, there are no fortunate fish to be found!

Everyday I still continue to go down by the sea and sit down on the sand,
I look across the ocean and wonder is there another kind of
land to see,
to be able to relax and not have to act on command?

There is a fish for me,
because this is the way I was told it IS to be,
there has just got to be that
Jewelfish for me!

I have a few pieces half finished and almost ready for a photography session. I'm quite excited about one of these pieces as it is quite unlike anything I've made before - you'll just have to come back to the Caprilicious Facebook page or the Instagram feed to see it mid week.
One of my Caprilicious women is coming up to visit me from London this weekend and I'm looking forward to chatting with her and showing her around chez Caprilicious. I see her when I go down to London, and she's visiting me. Caprilicious has brought some very interesting people from various walks of life into my sphere and it is so refreshing to meet people who aren't in the medical profession - I'm spared the interminable talking of shop, for starters.

That's me for this week, folks. Have a fabulous week, and I'll catch you next Friday as usual, same time, same place.
Until then
xx

Thanks Danielle, the scales are from my little stash of beads picked up in Prague - they are actually lentil shaped, when overlaid row upon row, they look like scales :)

I love the poem, it resonates with me on many levels. The jewel fish is truly a gallery piece. do send the images to Art jewellery forum for publishing in their digital library.
