Hello everyone, I hope you have all had a good dose of sunshine - all hell is about to break loose tomorrow and four legged friends are due to fall from the sky over the weekend.
As a few of you have spotted over the last week, there have been changes on the website - the font has changed and the pages are looking different. I have found someone to help me with the new look Caprilicious website and I'll tell you more about it when the job is finished. It will take a couple of three weeks until the overhaul is complete and I'm going to take a short break from the blog to give me time to help with the overhaul.
I thought I wouldn't have time to make anything at all during the week, but my fingers decided to go restless on me and to keep them quiet, I handed them a needle and a few beads. I decided to make a small piece of jewellery and what transpired eventually was a pair of earrings. I've never made anything like these but they were inspired by a new consignment of crystals from the Czech Republic and the absolute requirement to use at least some of them immediately - I simply couldn't wait.

I lined the earrings with scraps from a piece of leather purchased a couple of years ago to make a commissioned piece for a lady from Oxford. I will get better photographs soon - these are with my i-phone.

Perhaps they'll go with Comet? Or will it be a bit too much? There are some, like the redoubtable Mrs Apfel who would disagree with me, she loves to wear her jewellery by the kilogram. I wonder how long it takes her to put on all the jewellery she wears each day.
Iris Apfel, for those of you in the dark and are wondering what I'm on about, is an American businesswoman, interior designer, and fashion icon. She and her husband Carl had a career in textiles, including a contract with the White House that spanned nine presidencies. After she retired, she put on a show at the Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art featuring her collection of costume jewelry and styled with clothes on mannequins as she would wear it in 2005. She is a fashion icon, and signed to IMG in 2019 as a model at the age of 97.

I will leave you with the stunning image of Iris Apfel. I hope that when I grow old, I will be just as magnificently crazy.

Have a wonderful week, folks, and I'll catch you in a couple of weeks.
Until then
xx

I love the earrings that you have made. Apart from being sparkly, they are multicoloured and that lures me to look at time time and again. I love how inspiring Iris Apfel is. Her sense of style is so kitschy that it is awesome.

Thank you, Divya. I love highly colourful, shiny jewellery too.

Hello! I’m Neena Shilvock, and I’m utterly, cheerfully, incorrigibly besotted with jewellery.
What began over twelve years ago as a harmless creative escape has blossomed into a full-scale romance with beads, colour, texture, and all things fabulously statement-y. I design and handcraft quirky, characterful necklaces—the sort that refuse to whisper and much prefer to make an entrance. The passion hasn’t faded in the slightest. If anything, it’s grown legs. I even dream in beads.
    Truly.
This blog is my little corner of the internet where I share new creations hot off the bead mat, the stories and inspirations behind them, the occasional styling ramble, and a generous sprinkling of wry humour. If you’re someone who delights in bold colour, craftsmanship, and a good chuckle, then you’re very much my tribe. Do say hello—it might just be the start of a rather lovely friendship.
